Make Beats
Making your own beats is really all about layering. First make a recording of one instrument, the sound from that instrument is usually going to be your main beat. Then record another sound with a different instrument that compliments the original beat, you then add or layer that recording on top of the first, producing a new fuller sounding beat with two instruments. Keep layering recordings from other instruments up until you have the sound and your beat how you want it.
Instruments that make beats.
The main instruments to use to produce your beats are.
- A Drum Kit. – Percussion instruments like drums form the back bone of most musical beats. Depending on the style of beat you intend to make whether it’s Hip Hop or Rock, will tell you what beat you need, with emphasis on the correct beat.
- Bass Guitar. – This is usually the next instrument to be layered on top of the drum beats. Bass guitar beats can either be a cord (3 notes or more played together) or single notes. Governed by the drum beats, bass guitar beats are usually repeated loops.
- Keyboards. – More specifically a midi Keyboard, this type of interface will give you more flexibility and programmability to vary the sound production via a computer. Essentially with a midi keyboard you can produce all of the sounds you need.
These are the main instruments that you need if you want to make your own beats, in addition you’ll need something to record your sounds on as well like and 8 or 16 track recorder that will allow you to layer your sounds.
This is probably the most expensive way to make beats, plus you need to know how to play the instruments or be able to hire musicians, it’s much easier to download a beat maker, and really go for it.
